Telimena

Telimena

The next most popular state-run fashion brand after Moda Polska was Telimena – opened in 1958 by the artist Krystyna Dębczyńska. The first Telimena boutique, which sold evening gowns and cocktail dresses, was located in Łódź. More Telimena boutiques followed, offering both everyday clothing and eveningwear in cities across the country. Telimena hired the most charismatic models of the day, which contributed significantly to its success.

Among them were: Iza Pieńkowska, Basia Sosnowska, Zosia Ajnenkiel, and Miss Polonia 1957, Alicja Bobrowska. Telimena’s biggest star was the ravishing Ewa Maria Morelle, who would later marry Wojciech Frykowski, a film director who was murdered alongside Sharon Tate by the Manson gang. The Telimena House of Fashion is still around today, mainly manufacturing uniforms for companies such as LOT Polish airlines.
